State-of-the-art technology in bed:
There are a lot of steps to complete before a soft down comforter or fluffy pillow can be delivered to our customers:
When the feather raw material arrives from a goose farm, the feathers are weighed and then dust is removed in a preliminary process. The actual cleaning process takes place in a state-of-the-art computer-controlled washing machine with a capacity of 100 kg per load. For the pre-wash and main wash processes, water heated to approx. 40°C is used. Up to eight rinsing cycles are carried out using clean, clear water from the factory’s own source. In order to relieve some of the burden on Wampersdorf’s biological wastewater treatment plant, a new pre-filter and grease-separating facility was installed a few years ago.
During the drying process, the feathers and down are quickly sterilized at a temperature of over 100°C. This means that there is no need to worry about bacteria or even dust mites – unlike with imported goods from countries outside of the EU: with these goods, bacteriological tests have repeatedly shown that these manufacturers – to put it carefully – do not take hygiene quite so seriously!
After being sorted into three different feather sizes and down in one of the largest sorting facilities, the fillings are ready for the precise down-to-the-gram filling process, using high-performance, accurate cassette filling machines.
